About YAOGAN 8

YAOGAN 8 is a satellite from China, launched on Dec 15, 2009 from Taiyaun Space Center, China.

It circles Earth every 110 minutes (13.1 times a day), between 1,226 and 1,258 km up, on an orbit tilted 100.2° to the equator, so its path covers latitudes up to 80° north and south.

The map shows where it is right now; the pass list tells you when it next comes over your location.

Orbit height over the past year

Over the last 24 days its lowest point went from 1,226 km to 1,226 km. Sudden rises are engine burns that lift the orbit; slow declines are drag from the thin upper atmosphere.
